Use Fewer Batteries

The two torches shown above both cost under £5, and use different wind-up methods. The one on the left winds up by pushing in a lever a few times, and the one on the right works using a traditional winding lever.
Batteries are very harmful to the environment. Many products have been developed that remove the need for batteries, or allow them to last longer. Windup radio's are now available and very affordable, as are wind up torches. These wind up products are probably the greenest. If you must use batteries it is greener to use re-chargeable batteries. If you buy a battery powered torch its best to buy one that uses LED's (Light Emitting Diodes) because they use far less energy than standard light bulbs so the batteries last longer.
Shave with a Manual Razor
Disposable wax strips use lots of energy to produce and an electric razor uses energy to run. If you want to get rid of hair the green way use a manual razor with natural soap.
Mechanical is better than Digital
If you can use a Mechanical devise instead of a Digital one (e.g. bathroom scales or watches) then you can avoid using batteries and they usually last much longer.
Use Carpet Sweepers and Manual Lawn Mowers
Carpet sweepers and manual lawn mowers work by being pushed, this keeps you fit and doesn't consume electricity.
