Keep your Tyres Pumped Up

Firm Tyres save money, and reduce emissions .
If your tyres are not firm it takes more energy to turn them costing you more fuel.
Break as Little as Possible
Every time you break you are taking away energy that is propelling your vehicle forward so the more you break the more fuel you waste. To reduce the amount of breaking you need while driving leave a larger gap between you and the vehicle in front allowing you to naturally slow down then gently breaking if you need to.
Accelerate Gently
Gentle acceleration using high gears requires less revs so saves fuel.
If Safe, Cut Corners

In this illustration you can see the straight dashed blue line where a driver cuts through the bends is much shorter than the dotted winding red line were a driver follows the road.
By driving in a straighter line you travel less distance. Cutting corners can reduce the distance you travel and save fuel, but you must make sure it is safe to do so.
Keep your Car in Good Condition
If your car deteriorates and needs new parts those parts require a lot of energy to produce.
Wash your Car Occasionally
Washing your car too much wastes water and electricity if you use a car wash. Normally a car only needs to be washed once every six weeks. Washing your vehicle in the winter is more important because the salt on the roads encourages corrosion.

Two people in one vehicle use far less petrol than two people in two cars.
Don't carry Unnecessary Weight
The heavier your vehicle, the more fuel is required to power it.
Buy a Fuel Efficient Vehicle
Some vehicles do many more miles per gallon (mpg) of fuel than others.
